Technology Foresight is a strategic tool to analyze the role of technology in our society or in our company and from there, set up our decisions and actions at every moment. In addition to identifying emerging technologies, technology foresight helps to analyze what might be the key technologies development of a company, organization, sector, region or state and which variables may impact on it. Also to determine how they might affect the environment and which could be the agents that promote their development in one way or another.

Therefore, the foresight consists on systematize and facilitate common reflection on the future, construction of future scenarios in order to design strategic actions useful in the present. The contexts of application are diverse, ranging from enterprises, research institutions to national policies. Nowadays, is a new and active discipline which is growing rapidly.

The European Commission, through the Seventh Framework Programme for R&D, devotes a significant support and funding for the development of technology foresight activities and its results that should guide future policy.
